Tour Highlight
This tour will enable you to see the iconic Shoebill, which is the main target bird for Uganda and a really amazing species to encounter. The best site for the species is on the great swamps around Mambamba. You will additionally enjoy birds of the Lake Victoria ecosystem at Mabamba, which has many papyrus and open water species. Lake Mburo National Park provides a classic savannah bushland habitat which also includes some amazing wetlands species along the lake itself. You will then enjoy savannah species and Rift Valley wetland specials in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Then you conclude by enjoying amazing lowland forest birds in Kibale Forest.

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
The tour begins at the main airport city of Uganda, Entebbe. Here our team will receive you and proceed to the nearby hotel where you will have a chance to see some common birds and get introduced to the local species, such as Eastern Plantain-eater and Red-chested Sunbird. Night in Entebbe.

Day 2 and 3: Mabamba Swamp to Lake Mburo
We shall enjoy a morning at Mabamba Swamp searching for the Shoebill. This will be also a great site for many of the wetland species that live around the Lake Victoria; such as Lesser Jacana, Malachite Kingfisher, Swamp Flycatcher, Blue-headed Coucal, Greater Swamp-Warbler, Winding Cisticola, Carruther’s Cisticola, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, African Pygmy Goose and Sooty Chat.
We shall then proceed to Lake Mburo National Park, where we enjoy game drives around the vast savannah. While here, we shall also enjoy a boat ride on the lake. Mammals will be plenty too and we expect to see species like Burchellʼs Zebra, African Buffalo, Topi, Nile Hippo, Eland and Impala. Expected additional birds species in the area include Coqui Francolin, Rufous-chested Swallow, White-backed Night-Heron, African Finfoot, Pennant-winged Nightjar, African Scops-Owl, Green-backed Woodpecker, Fan-tailed Grassbird, Trilling Cisticola, Long-tailed Cisticola, White-shouldered Tit and the rare Red-faced Barbet. Day 4 and 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
At Queen Elizabeth, we shall enjoy driving along the mosaic of habitats including wetlands, forest and bushland. We shall enjoy scouting the grasslands in this park in search of local mammals and birds. Mammals here include Uganda Kob, Giant Forest Hog, Nile Hippo, African Buffalo, African Elephant, African Lion and Leopard. The Nile Crocodiles are also common here.
On one afternoon, we shall enjoy a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel. Here we expect birds species such as Yellow-fronted Canary, Black-lored Babbler, Winding Cisticola, Stout Cisticola, Lesser Swamp Warbler, Little Weaver, Glossy Ibis, White-winged Widowbird, Southern Red Bishop, Plain-backed Pipit, Fawn-breasted Waxbill, White-tailed Lark, Grey-backed Fiscal, Goliath Heron, Saddle-billed Stork, African Open-billed Stork, Gull-billed Tern, White-winged Tern, Swamp Flycatcher, Black Coucal, African Skimmer, African Fish Eagle, Grey Kestrel, Bateleur, Sooty Chat, Red-necked Spurfowl, Greater Honeyguide, Great White Pelican, Senegal Lapwing, Kittlitz's Plover and Red-chested Sunbird. Day 6 and 7: Kibale Forest
Kibale Forest is a phenomenal area and always amazes on each visit. The habitats here are mainly two – tropical forest and wetlands. We shall have enough time to scout both habitat types and will enjoy plenty of birds.
Here we look for species such as Green-breasted Pitta, Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, Chestnut Wattle-eye, African Shrike-flycatcher, Speckle-breasted Woodpecker, Least Honeyguide, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Double-toothed Barbet, Yellow-billed Barbet, Afep Pigeon, White-naped Pigeon, Narrow-tailed Starling, Great Blue Turaco, Ross’s Turaco, African Grey Parrot, Narina Trogon, Honeyguide Greenbul, Joyful Greenbul, Plain Greenbul, Black Bee-eater, White-spotted Flufftail, Many-coloured Bush-shrike, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Grey-winged Robin-Chat, Snowy-crowned Robin-Chat, White-tailed Ant-Thrush, Dark-backed Weaver, Masked Apalis, White-chinned Prinia, White-collared Oliveback, Red-headed Bluebill, Green-throated Sunbird, Blue-throated Brown Sunbird, Green Sunbird, Sabine’s Spinetail, White-Breasted Negro-finch, Lühder's Bush-shrike and Bocage’s Bush-shrike. Day 8: Departure After our final morning of birding, we shall cruise back to Entebbe as we score more birds on the way. We shall be keen for any roadside swamps and will allow some minutes to san them. In the later afternoon, we shall arrive in Entebbe and board our flights home.
